Caring for EVA and TPE: five minutes a week
EVA and TPE never need dry cleaning. A short guide to keeping your mats in shape all year round.
Our profile description says: "No washing needed". That is almost true. Most of the time shaking the mat out is enough. If you want it spotless, here is a simple routine.
EVA
- Take the mat out and shake it: sand and crumbs fall out of the cells
- If mud has stuck, rinse it with a hose or shower
- A mild soap and a brush handle greasy stains
- Stand the mat on its edge, it is dry in 10 to 15 minutes
TPE
- Pour out the water collected at the edges
- Wipe with a damp cloth or rinse under running water
- Avoid solvents and abrasives, they damage the surface
- Wipe dry and put it back
What to avoid
- A pressure washer held close to the trim
- Drying on a radiator or heater
- Hard brushes on the trim and stitching
- Laying a second mat on top, it gets in the way of the pedals
When to replace
A good mat lasts for years. One of our customers has been buying EVA mats from us for 7 years. Replace it when the trim has worn through to the base or the mat under the pedals no longer holds on its clips. A heel pad for the driver's mat can be bought separately.
